In a joint
effort by JCI Philippines led by 2006 National President Ismael P.
Penado and the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) headed by Chairman
Elmer O. Datuin and PCL National President Carlo Pontico C. Fortuna,
the Search for the 2006 “The Outstanding Councilors of the Philippines
(TOCP) Awards was recently concluded.. The awarding ceremonies was
held during the PCL National Convention in Cebu City last March 9,
2007 held at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) with no
less than Sen. Edgardo J. Angara as the Guest of Honor and Speaker who
served as this year’s main sponsor of the said project. The award aims
in giving due recognition to commendable and excellent deeds of our
country’s Councilors for their respective constituents they served.
On its first year, said award joins the two main other annual
undertaking of the JCI Philippines, namely The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM)
and The Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) Awards. While
this two other undertaking give recognition purely to humanitarian
work, the TOCP Awards is uniquely given for outstanding leadership and
excellent contributions to local legislation, governance and the
nation at large. Its primary aim is for the recognition of the
outstanding achievement of our nation’s councilors which have
benefited significantly their constituents, the community and the
nation. Likewise, it will also inspire others, especially the youth,
with the recognition to these achievements and/or leadership of the
awardees-leaders who have demonstrated vigor and innovativeness in
tackling the problems of society and offering solutions. Moreover, the
said award will also challenge and inspire councilors to become
development-oriented and to excel beyond the ordinary.
The distinguished
Board of Judges were; DILG Secretary Ronaldo V. Puno, Sen. Edgardo J.
Angara, Bulacan Gov. Josefina dela Cruz, Naga City Mayor Jesse M.
Robredo, Bishop Deogracias S. Iñiguez and Dr. Milwida M. Guevara,
President, SYNERGEA. The members of the screening panel is composed
of Atty. Mabel V. Mamba, 2002 JCI Philippines National
President, Ms. Francine Anne P. Sajoc, Exec. Asst. Office of Sen.

JCI Philippines Celebrated JAYCEE WEEK
Every year, the 3rd week of April marks an important date
for the Junior Chamber International
Philippines, the celebration of the “JAYCEE WEEK”. Said
event is under
Presidential Proclamation No. 97 dated
April
12, 1999 declaring the 3rd week of every year as “National
Jaycee Week”. This
nationwide event is geared towards creating public awareness through a
concerted effort by the organization’s 150 local chapters all over the
country. This is thru the implementation of common projects
during the celebration of the National Jaycee Week that creates bigger
impact and to promote the organization on its existence through the
years.
This year’s week long
celebration will be from 15th to 21st on the
month of April. In line with this, a series of activities are lined up
to be executed that will not only highlight the areas of opportunities
offered by the organization but also help promote the JCI in
all the communities as well. To keep up with the tradition, the
different activities to be undertaken will be correlated with the
tenets of the Jaycee Creed. All local chapters are encouraged to be
creative in their execution of lined up projects to gain a bigger
impact and to maximize the promotion of the Jaycee organization not
only in our country but to the whole world as well. This year’s
National Chairman is JCI Mem. Larry Alcantara, Past President of
the JCI Pateros Balut.
The activities to be undertaken in co relation with the tenets of the
Jaycee Creed are as follows:
PRE Jaycee Week Activities
Chapters are enjoined
to conduct Radio/TV program and simultaneous Press Releases to
national dailies and local tabloids to promote the said activity.
Day 1 -
APRIL 15, SUNDAY:
That faith
in God gives meaning and purpose to human life
Offer
thanksgiving Mass with JCI Members and Families and organize a
launching activity for the Jaycee Week Celebration by
having a motorcade, parade, radio and TV interview, press releases and
display streamers to announce the different activities to be
undertaken during the week.
Day 2 -
APRIL 16, MONDAY:
That brotherhood of men
transcends the sovereignty of nations
Recruitment and Retention Programs
– Sports Activities with JCI Members and families members
Day 3 - APRIL 17,
TUESDAY:
That economic
justice can best be won by freemen through free enterprise
Entrepreneurial
Seminars in line with NOM Theme “Be Better” that involves the business
sector, projects that could augment the economic status in the
community. To include livelihood programs for the benefit of the
community.
Day 4 - APRIL 18,
WEDNESDAY:
That
government should be of laws rather than of men
Conduct
seminars and projects that could develop the total well being of
members and well the children and youth.
Activities that will focus on the leadership development of
members and the youth like conducting seminars on the leadership LSOPP,
Vanguard Leaders, Impact Leader, Making a Team, seven habits, etc.
Day 5 - APRIL 19,
THURSDAY:
That earth’s great treasure lies in human

Reactivation of
