2007 JCI President Scott Greenlee visits JCI Philippines

      JCI Philippines officers and members welcomed with full honors the 62nd JCI World President, Scott Greenlee from JCI United States of America. The JCI President arriving from Japan was on his official four days visit to the Philippines from January 23-26, 2007 in addition to his trips from other countries of Asia and rest of the countries worldwide. The JCI President’s visit is a yearly official function of the highest officer of the Junior Chamber International visiting countries affiliated with the JCI organization.  As charted in his itinerary he was given the chance to meet with head of states or high ranking government officials and also the opportunity to interact with JCI Philippines officers and members of what are they doing in furthering the Junior Chamber’s mission as a leadership training organization. On his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport he was met by JCI Philippines National President Glenn B. Santos, some National Officers and members

      On his first day he had the pleasure of having a dinner on invitation from 1997 JCI President Crispin Dy, Jr. at his residence in Bell Air Village in Makati City which according to him the first past JCI President he met on his visits. Then after he proceeded to attend the mass induction of twenty one (21) LOMs in the Cavite region held at the historic Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.  As Guest of Honor and Speaker in his speech he expounded this year’s JCI plan of action and the importance of the new JCI Slogan “Be Better” and encouraged all the members to advocate and give more emphasis on it.  He also said he admired this year’s JCI Philippines presidential theme “Think BIG – Taking Definite Action…Making Things Happen“ which shows profound  commitment by the members in implementing successful projects. He also talked on his travels in other countries visiting all the NOMs to promote JCI’s mission and its role to the people and communities. He lauded JCI members for their uncompromising dedication to JCI ideals in this part of the world.  

     The following day, he took time in visiting the JCI Philippines National Headquarters where he had a brief dialogue with national officers of the JCI Senate Philippines led by its National President, JCI Sen. Senen Quiambao and also with the members of the JCI Philippines Staff.  Here he was also met by other members of the national board. During the luncheon he had the opportunity of meeting some JCI Philippines Past National Presidents like San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito the 1998 National President, 2005 NP Dennis L. Cunanan, 2006 NP Ismael Penado, Past NP Gerry Sevilla and other present and past national officers. He proceeded next for a courtesy call with Quezon City Mayor Feliciano R. Belmonte Jr., the 1976 JCI’s World President accompanied by NP Glenn B. Santos as well as other National Officers of the JCI Philippines. He was also invited for a dinner hosted by 2001 JCI VP Boydee Dizon with JCI Sen. Louie Basilio, Jr., LOM President of JCI Manila and some of its officers before proceeding to the induction of lady chapter JCI Manilena where he was the Guest of Honor and Speaker at the World Trade Center in Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. Here he was warmly welcomed and mingled with the JCI Metro Manila officers and members in attendance during the fellowship.   

     On his third day he flew to Cebu City accompanied by NP Glenn Santos and Secretary General Jozak C. Bautista and were met by Visayas national officers led by Central Visayas NVP Ray Salgado. After the luncheon with officers, a press conference was held at the Lai Garden and Restaurant. He was  the Guest of Honor at the ceremonial induction of the JCI Metro Cebu Uptown the chapter of JCI Executive Director Marcel Fernan, Jr.  As a tradition of goodwill he was given time for a courtesy call with Cebu like Mayor Tommy Osmena of Cebu City. He was also invited for a special dinner with JCI Cebu Senate officers led by Congressman Raul del Mar and Cebu City Councilor Jun Pe with the presence of different Visayas national officers, LOM Presidents and members he had the opportunity of having interaction with them regarding JCI activities for this year.

    In his last day after a hectic schedule the JCI President’s sojourn took time in relaxing by playing golf with JCI Sen. Gilbert Purcia, Past President of the JCI Cebu Metro Uptown and JCI Mem. Jeric Laude, the incumbent LOM President of JCI Cebu at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club. During his stay in the country, he was accorded with generous Filipino hospitality on all the activities he attended. The JCI President expressed his thanks and gratitude to all the officers and members of JCI Philippines for the fruitful visit before leaving for Inchon, South Korea.
